Es konnte kein besserer Rahmen als eine Tagung zum Thema "Zukunft des digitalen Erbes?" gefunden werden, um ein Großprojekt aus dem Bereich der digitalen Geisteswissenschaften offiziell aus der Taufe zu heben. Gemeinsam mit den ProjektpartnerInnen präsentierte das Zentrum für Informationsmodellierung - Austrian Centre for Digital Humanities am 2. März 2017 an der Uni Graz offiziell die Plattform Kultur- und Wissenschaftserbe Steiermark. Die virtuelle Sammlung enthält rund 25.000 Exponate und bildet von der Gründungsurkunde der Uni Graz bishin zur Postkartensammlung des GrazMuseums sämtliche Sammlungen der Steiermark ab. "Die Uni Graz ist auf diesem Gebiet Vorreiterin und baut ihre Kompetenz auf dem Gebiet der digitalen Geisteswissenschaften ständig aus", sagt Forschungs-Vizerektor und Archäologe Peter Scherrer bei der Präsentation. "Es ist ein Zukunftsthema, das mit der Plattform begonnen hat."

Erstmals wurden Objekte digital erfasst, mit Metadaten versehen und sind standardisiert in einer Plattform verfügbar. Das Großprojekt, das PartnerInnen innerhalb der Uni Graz und des steirischen Kulturbetriebs zusammenarbeiten ließ, wurde im Rahmen der Initiative "Hochschulraumstrukturmittel" mit rund einer Million Euro unterstützt. Die Projektleitung lag bei Vizerektor Scherrer und der Uni Graz.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI
