Seit 2011 forschen ArchäologInnen der Uni Graz bei Ausgrabung in Side/Türkei

Die Befestigungsmauer von Side in der heutigen Provinz Antalya (Türkei) stellt mit den beiden Stadttoren eines der besterhaltensten Monumente der antiken Stadt dar. Am Osttor, das unter den ExpertInnen als hellenistisch bezeichnet und in das 3. bis 2. Jahrhundert v. Chr. datiert wird, graben auch ArchäologInnen der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz nach wertvollen Schätzen. In Kooperation mit der türkischen Anadolu Üniversitesi Eskişehir und dem Zentrum Antike ist das Institut für Archäologie der Universität Graz seit 2011 an den wissenschaftlichen Grabungsarbeiten beteiligt. Bereits in den letzten Jahren konnten die Grazer ForscherInnen interessante Funde für die Wissenschaft erlangen.

Kürzlich verließ wieder ein Team – bestehend aus ArchäologInnen und Studierenen der Uni Graz – unter der Leitung von Univ. Ass. Dr. Ute Lohner-Urban Österreich in Richtung Türkei, um die Toranlage der Stadtmauer näher zu erkunden. Sie werden rund zwei Monate in der Türkei arbeiten.

The Austrian Science Fund FWF has selected the Doctoral Programme in Theoretical Particle Physics at the University of Graz for funding from the Doc.funds. Six young scientists will be funded for 3.5 years. They will gain fundamentally new insights into the origins of the world.
