Auf die Lernplätze, fertig, los: Wo und wie es sich am Campus gut lernen lässt

Ob unter einem Baum oder mit Aussicht auf den Campus. Die Universität Graz bietet unzählige Lernplätze. Manuela Paechter weiß, wie die richtige Umgebung gestaltet sein sollte.

Wie viele Lernplätze es genau sind, konnten selbst die erfahrensten Studierenden nicht sagen. Fakt ist, es gibt enorm viele, hunderte: im RESOWI-Zentrum, im Wall, an den Instituten, in der Universitätsbibliothek. Oder auch im Grünen, etwa am Gelände Heinrichstraße 31, wohin während des Baus des Graz Center of Physics ja der Attemsgarten übersiedelt ist.

Dass die Umgebung fürs Lernen entscheidend ist, bestätigt die pädagogische Psychologin Manuela Paechter: „Es ist zu beachten, dass das Lernmaterial vorhanden und leicht zugänglich ist. Wichtig ist, einen Platz zu finden, an dem man sich gut konzentrieren kann. Das heißt, die Lernumgebung so zu gestalten, dass man nicht abgelenkt wird und in Ruhe arbeiten kann.“
Die Lern-Expertin erinnert an einen bekannten Begriff in der Fachwelt: „Der Raum als dritter Pädagoge“ von Loris Malaguzzi. „Ich finde“, so Paechter, „unsere Bibliothek ist eine hervorragende Pädagogin. Es gibt Plätze, an denen man sich gut konzentrieren kann, man wird nicht abgelenkt.“

Die Wissenschaftlerin hat noch einen weiteren Tipp parat: „Es ist für das Lernen hilfreich, wenn man sich Rituale und Regelmäßigkeit schafft, indem man zum Beispiel zum Lernen regelmäßig in die Bibliothek geht.“

The Arctic up close: ORF special feature on the University of Graz’s research station in S

Students from the University of Graz are spending two weeks conducting research at the Univerisity of Graz research station at the Sermilik Fjord in Greenland, which has been operational for three years.
