Vortragsreihe am Institut für Geographie beleuchtet aktuelle Probleme des Klima-, Umwelt- sowie des gesellschaftlichen Wandels.

Aktuelle Probleme des Klima- und Umweltwandels sowie des gesellschaftlichen Wandels erfordern eine Integration naturwissenschaftlicher und gesellschaftswissenschaftlicher Perspektiven. Die Geographie erscheint als erklärende Disziplin ideal für die kritische und wissenschaftliche Auseinandersetzung mit dieser umfassenden Problematik. Die in diesem Studienjahr an der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz initiierte Vortragsreihe "Grazer Integrative Geographie" setzt sich in besonderen Vorträgen - immer donnerstags - gezielt mit dieser Thematik auseinander. Dazu wurden ausgewiesene FachvertreterInnen eigeladen, um Ansätze, Beispiele und Grenzen integrativer Forschung und Lehre zur Diskussion stellen. Die Vortragsreihe soll WissenschafterInnen und Studierende gleichsam anziehen.

Am kommenden Donnerstag, den 15. November 2012, hält Univ.-Prof. Dr. Cyrus Samimi von der Universität Wien einen Vortrag zum Thema "Gesellschaft-Umwelt-Beziehungen in der Forschungspraxis: Beispiele aus dem Sahel Westafrikas und dem Ostpamir", der ganz im Zeichen des Festkolloquiums anlässlich des 70. Geburtstages von Herrn em. O. Univ.-Prof. Dr Herwig Wakonigg steht.
