Alte PCs für neues Wissen

Uni Graz spendet Computer an Kindergärten und Schulen

Die Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz unterstützt in einer aktuellen Initiative Grazer Kindergärten und Schulen mit nicht mehr benötigten, aber für bestimmte Anwendungen gut einsetzbaren Computern. „Die von der Universität ausgeschiedenen Modelle sind etwa acht Jahre alt und waren ursprünglich sehr hochwertig ausgestattet“, so Dr. Kurt-Martin Lugger, interimistischer Leiter des Bereiches Informationsmanagement der Uni Graz und Initiator des Projekts.

 


Gemeinsam mit Stadtrat Kurt Hohensinner übergab Rektorin Christa Neuper vergangene Woche fünf Geräte an die Volksschule Geidorf. „Wir freuen uns sehr, mit diesen Computern verschiedenen Bildungseinrichtungen die tägliche Arbeit zu erleichtern. Sie können sinnvoll genutzt werden, gleichzeitig möchten wir damit aber auch ein Zeichen im Sinne der nachhaltigen Verwertung von Altgeräten setzen“, so Hohensinner und Neuper unisono.

 


Die Marken-PCs der Firmen Fujitsu und Dell werden aus lizenzrechtlichen Gründen mit freier Software Linux Mint 16 und Libre Office ausgestattet und seitens der Universität Graz kontinuierlich vergeben. Interessierte Einrichtungen können die Geräte jederzeit einzeln über die Abteilung UNI-IT anfordern: http://it.uni-graz.at/
