Vorweihnachtliche Sonderführungen durch die Bibel-Sonderausstellung im UniGraz@Museum

Mit mehr als drei Milliarden Ausgaben in fast 3000 Sprachen ist die Bibel die Nummer 1 unter den Bestsellern. Vor 500 Jahren legte der Augustinermönch Martin Luther mit der Übersetzung ins Deutsche den Grundstein zur Reformation. Die Bibel war stets Ausgangspunkt für heftige Kontroversen und bewegt noch heute die Gemüter der Menschen.
Die buchstäblich vielen Seiten der Schrift zeigt die aktuelle Sonderausstellung „BIST DU BIBEL … ?“ im UniGraz@Museum im Hauptgebäude der Karl-Franzens Universität, kuratiert von WissenschafterInnen der Uni Graz.
Der thematische Bogen der Schau spannt von der Entstehung und unterschiedlichen Gestaltung des Buches der Bücher über das Neue Testament bis hin zu Luther.
Mehr als 270 Bibeln aus den Sondersammlungen der Karl-Franzens-Universität, des ADEVA-Verlags sowie aus Grazer Privatsammlungen sind zu sehen, darunter eine kuriose Haarknotenbibel, die Spanierinnen in ihren Haaren „versteckten“, ein Faksimile der Wenzelsbibel sowie eine 2 mal 3 Zentimeter große Mini-Bibel.

Mit dem Weihnachtsevangelium steht die Bibel im Dezember ganz besonders im Mittelpunkt. Bei stimmungsvollen Abendführungen am 13., 14. und 15. Dezember 2017, jeweils um 19:00 Uhr, können BesucherInnen noch mehr über die Heilige Schrift erfahren.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
