Introduction to R

This course teaches basic concepts of the statistical programming environment R. Topics covered include:
- Why use R?
- Installation and configuration
- RStudio
- Syntax and structure of R code
- Important data types (vectors, matrices, data frames)
- Importing and exporting data
- Descriptive statistics
- Basic plots
- Correlation
- Linear regression
- Comparing means
Students are not expected to be familiar with any programming language or statistical software package, but basic computer skills and some familiarity with fundamental statistical concepts are helpful. After taking this course, students should be able to set up and maintain an R environment, understand and apply basic R concepts, workflows, and commands, and perform simple statistical analyses with R.
