The American Studies department at University of Graz and the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) are excited to host Forms of Migration, 2-3 May 2019. Forms of Migration is an international creative-scholarly gathering of artists, writers, and academics from 5 continents coming together to explore how im/migrants and refugees tell their stories. Experts from diverse backgrounds and fields will present their work amongst a vibrant community of people dedicated to raising awareness about stories that matter, the people who tell them, and how, when and where these stories are shared transnationally. Practicing artists and writers, students, public intellectuals and faculty will participate in a dynamic two-day conversation covering everything from fiction, poetry, and memoir to photography, performance and digital cultures. A commitment to sharing how stories about and by im/migrants and refugees can raise awareness about political struggles and social identities and Forms of Migration’s unique focus on the innovative ways that such stories make their way through our world(s) expands today’s urgent conversations and unites diverse projects.
