Bachelor's, diploma and master's degree programmes with admission procedure
Submit your data after you have received a study place as part of the admission procedure. This is possible for up to 8 weeks - you will be informed of the exact end date automatically.

In order to study to become a teacher, you must demonstrate a certain aptitude for the teaching profession - no matter which subjects you would like to teach later. You will go through an admission procedure consisting of an online part and an exam in July. Register in good time!
Registration for the admission procedure for the 2025/26 academic year: March 3 (9 am) - May 15, 2025 (12 noon)

Registration for the admission procedure for the academic year 2025/26: March 3 - July 15, 2025 (6 p.m.)
Anyone wishing to study sport must demonstrate a certain level of sporting ability. A motor skills entrance/supplementary examination is held for this purpose. After the exam, you will receive a confirmation of success. You can then enrol during the regular application deadlines.
Registration for the supplementary exam for the winter semester 2025/26: May 5, 2025 to June 13, 2025
Attention for the teaching subject: In addition to the motor skills entrance exam, you must also register for the general teaching degree entrance exam in good time!
For the language programmes Romance Studies (French, Italian, Spanish) | Slavic Languages, Cultures and Literatures | Transcultural Communication or the teaching subjects (see above), you must demonstrate a certain language level in order to be able to attend all courses. Language entrance examinations / placement tests are held at the beginning of the semester. Register for your relevant test in addition to your enrolment!
In the Bachelor's degree programme in English/American Studies and in English as a subject, you must take the placement test to prove that you have a B2 language level. Only then can you attend all courses. The test is held at the beginning of the semester. Register for the test in addition to your enrolment!

If you have not completed your preliminary studies at the University of Graz or Graz University of Technology, you must go through an admission procedure. This admission procedure is handled by Graz University of Technology. Once you have successfully completed it, you can enrol at the University of Graz - you will be given a short application deadline for this.
Registration for the admission procedure for the academic year 2026/27: October 15, 2025 to December 15, 2025
If you have completed your preliminary studies at the University of Graz or Graz University of Technology or have already been admitted to one of the Master's programs, no admission procedure is necessary.

You are already studying at the University of Graz and would like to open an additional degree programme / change your degree programme? Additional studies / changing programmes
With the university entrance qualification in Austria, you automatically prove that you have the necessary language skills in German. This makes it easier to check whether you can study here.
You graduated in Austria but do not have EU/EEA/Swiss citizenship? Then the tuition fee differs.
What you need to have ready for your submission for the Bachelor/Diploma programme:
School leaving certificate
All pages of the school leaving certificate and final school report - including timetable!
ID card
Passport or identity card (if neither is available: driver's license plus proof of citizenship)
+ additionally if you transfer from another educational institution to the University of Graz
Proof of matriculation number (e.g. student record sheet, student ID) and certificate of departure (if continuing the same course of study)
What course are you interested in applying for? There is a wide range of degree programmes on offer - choose one (or more) and see if you meet all the requirements for admission.

Go to online.uni-graz.at and register with your name, date of birth and e-mail address.
You will then receive an e-mail with the activation link.
That didn't work? If instead of the activation e-mail you receive an e-mail that the automatic registration did not work - usually because of a previous account and/or a UB library card - please forward this e-mail together with a scan/photo of a valid photo ID to basis(at)uni-graz.at and wait for the activation link.
Click on the activation link in the e-mail to open a confirmation page in your browser. Select "Continue".
You will now be assigned a user name. You can choose your own password. Attention: Please remember your username and password!
If the password for the basic account has expired, you can reset it using the following link.
You will receive an email and log in to online.uni-graz.at as an "applicant".
Under "My applications" > "Show application status" > the "Application for enrollment" will be available for download.
Check once again that the data is correct, sign the application (by cell phone signature or handwritten) and send it via e-mail to studienabteilung(at)uni-graz.at as soon as possible.
Once the signed "Application for enrollment" has been received by the university within the respective time period, you will be enrolled for your selected degree programme.
The enrollment is completed with the payment of the ÖH or tuition fee.
You will receive the payment details and some information sheets by e-mail.
Transfer/pay the money. When the university has received your payment, you are a student!
→ What is the ÖH contribution? This contribution enables the Austrian National Union of Students (ÖH) to represent students independently. It must be paid every semester so that you can continue to be registered as a student.
→ What is the tuition fee? For students, the tuition fee is generally only due after the minimum period of study plus tolerance semesters. Then, it will have to be paid each semester
Please note: Different tuition fees apply for students who are not citizens of the EU/Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland and for non-degree students (e.g. who only attend individual courses; who participate in academic courses and/or preparation programs).
As soon as the ÖH/study fee has been received, you are registered for the current semester. You can now activate your student account:
You will receive a PIN code by e-mail.
Go toonline.uni-graz.at and enter the code, your matriculation number and your date of birth under "Students - Enter your PIN code here".
The system will automatically assign you an e-mail address.
Set your password to activate student account in UNIGRAZonline.
Please note: The synchronization of your data can take up to one hour. Please make sure you remember your account details (user name, e-mail address and password)! You will need them every time you log in to UNIGRAZonline. The PIN code is only to be used the first time you log in.
The UNIGRAZCard is the official student ID card of the University of Graz.
You need to upload a suitable photo (passport photo format, high resolution).
Click on"Application for student card" in UNIGRAZonline.
A) If you select "Self-collection at the kiosk", you will receive a QR code. Whith this code you can issue the card yourself at the vending machine in the foyer of the University Library.
B) If you want to collect the card in person from the Student Services Department, you can do so after four to five working days. You will need to make an appointment and bring an official photo ID (passport, ID card or driving license) with you.
Please note: The first issue of the card is free of charge; in the event of loss, theft, damage or changes to the data (including changing the photo), a fee must be paid.

After you have chosen your degree programme, you must >> register for the admission procedure and >> pass it. You will then receive a "confirmation of admission". You can then continue with step 2(create a basic account).

Why does the video end after choosing a course? Because from this step onwards, the online application process is very different - depending on your selected course of study. But you will be led through the process online, don't worry!
