Microcredentials at the University of Graz

Microcredentials certify skills and knowledge you have acquired in a flexible and compact way—based on clear and transparent criteria. This makes your individual abilities visible and officially recognized, whether for your studies, your career, or your personal development. At the University of Graz, you can choose between two options: university-specific microcredentials or international joint programmes offered through the Arqus Alliance.

FAQs

A microcredential is your official recognition for gaining valuable new skills and knowledge in a compact, focused course—boosting your career and personal development.

Microcredentials usually range from 1 to 15 ECTS credits.

The University of Graz offers its own university microcredentials as well as Joint Microcredentials within the Arqus University Alliance.

Joint Arqus Microcredentials are offered jointly by at least two universities within the Arqus Alliance. You apply for them externally, and all information can be found on the respective program pages.

Yes, microcredentials can usually be credited as part of your free electives within your degree program. In some cases, such as the microcredential in Science Communication, the microcredential is also integrated into a curriculum.

Ja, Absolvent:innen von Microcredentials erhalten eigene Zertifikate der Uni Graz bzw. im Fall von Joint Microcredentials der jeweiligen Arqus Universität.

Microcredentials at the University of Graz are free of charge. Joint Arqus Microcredentials may have fees or include paid components, such as costs for a study stay abroad (for example, in the Joint Microcredential Advanced Creative Thinking).

Microcredentials demonstrate your specific skills and knowledge in a particular subject or field, make you more attractive to employers, and help you acquire and prove targeted competencies for your career path.

Microcredentials are compact and flexible: they focus on specific skills or topics, can be earned independently of a full degree program, and are often completed more quickly than traditional, longer study programs.
