Sociology at the University of Graz
The main content of the bachelor’s programme includes the theory and history of sociology as well as international comparative sociology and historical sociology. You will also gain an insight into general sociology, economic sociology and gender research.
Master’s programme in Sociology
The master’s programme in Sociology builds directly on the bachelor’s programme, broadening and intensifying the knowledge and skills already acquired. At the University of Graz you also have the option of interdisciplinary master’s programmes and joint programmes, allowing further scope for individualised and specialised learning.

As a graduate of the bachelor’s programme, you will have a wide range of career prospects, both as part of a team and in a leadership role. Particularly relevant jobs include working on research projects in private and public institutions, planning and consulting roles, analysing and consulting on social issues and problems (e.g. people with disabilities, the unemployed, drug addicts, people in need of care) as well as in education, health and social care, public administration, economic and social science research institutions and service companies, leisure and cultural facilities or the media.
