Wissenschaftspreis der ScherbaumSeebacher Rechtsanwälte wurde an drei JuristInnen vergeben

Am Donnerstag, 12. März 2015, wurde an der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz erstmals der „Wissenschaftspreis der ScherbaumSeebacher Rechtsanwälte“ verliehen. Dieser Preis wird von der Grazer Kanzlei ScherbaumSeebacher Rechtsanwälte gesponsert und im Rahmen der „Plattform für Wirtschafts-, Insolvenz- und Sanierungsrecht“ vergeben. Der Preis wurde von den Kanzleipartnern Dr. Clemens Jaufer und Dr. Norbert Scherbaum in einem feierlichen universitären Rahmen an die drei PreisträgerInnen, die damit für ihre herausragenden wissenschaftlichen Leistungen prämiert wurden, übergeben.


Die Plattform wurde auf Initiative von Univ.-Prof. Dr. Bettina Nunner-Krautgasser vom Institut für Zivilgerichtliches Verfahren der Uni Graz, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Gerhard Schummer vom Institut für Unternehmens- und Wirtschaftsrecht der Uni Graz sowie RA Dr. Clemens Jaufer von der Kanzlei ScherbaumSeebacher Rechtsanwälte GmbH im Jahr 2010 ins Leben gerufen und hat sich daraus eine sehr gut besuchte Vortragsreihe entwickelt.


Der Wissenschaftspreis soll die Verbindung zwischen Wissenschaft und Praxis untermauern und herausragende Arbeiten fördern, die sowohl dogmatisch interessanten als auch praktisch bedeutsamen Themen gewidmet sind. Den Preis 2014 erhielten nun die RechtswissenschafterInnen Dr. Philipp Anzenberger, Dr. Elke Heinrich und Dr. Johannes Wühl. Sie alle haben sich in ihren Dissertationen auf hervorragende Weise mit Fragestellungen zum Insolvenz- und Sanierungsrecht befasst: Der Hauptpreis ging an Philipp Anzenberger, der in seiner Arbeit die Insolvenzfestigkeit von Bestandverträgen analysierte. Johannes Wühl befasste sich mit Sicherungsmehrheit und Wegfall einzelner Kreditsicherungsmittel und Elke Heinrich untersuchte die Bonitätsprüfung im neuen Verbraucherkreditrecht.


Nach der Preisverleihung – bei der Elke Heinrich durch O.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Peter Bydlinski vertreten wurde – fand die erste Vortragsveranstaltung 2015 der Plattform WIS statt, die sich mit dem Thema „Aktuelle Fragen zur Kapitalaufbringung“ auseinander setzte.

The University of Graz is further expanding its international study opportunities through the European university alliance Arqus and is taking the lead in two key projects. In future, students will benefit from even more joint degree programmes and from simplified recognition of academic achievements through the Joint European Degree Label.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
