Bunte Workshops und nachhaltige Lebensweis(heit)en: der Nachhaltigkeitstag an der Uni Graz zog hunderte Interessierte an

Eines gleich vorweg: Der Do-it-yourself-Workshop für eigene Kosmetika und Waschmittel war sicherlich der Höhepunkt des Nachhaltigkeitstages an der Uni Graz. Immerhin kommt es nicht jeden Tag vor, dass man unter professioneller Anleitung seine eigene Seife "kochen" kann. Am 31. Mai putzte sich die gesamte Universität heraus und zeigte wie nachhaltig sie in Forschung, Lehre und Administration ist. Ein Klassiker: der kostenlose Fahrradcheck. Ein Muss: die Präsentation des Forschungsschwerpunktes "Umwelt und globaler Wandel". Ein Erfolg: Nachhaltige Ideen für den Uni-Graz-Campus. Und beim Ideenwettbewerb kamen so einige tolle Initiativen ans Tageslicht.

Den ersten Platz machte Michael Altendorfer mit seinem Vorschlag für Snacks und Getränke am Campus: Regionale, biologische und/oder faire Produkte statt Produkte von Großkonzernen, die Menschenrechte missachten, Beginn bei Getränkeautomaten hin zu den Snack- und eventuell Kaffeeautomaten.

Der zweite Platz ging an Aisma Linda Kiesnere: Ressourcen- und Energieschonung durch Bewusstseinbildung mit einem spielenden Zugang. Platz drei ex aequo: Marco König "Reduktion des Papierverbrauches in der Bürokratie: Einführung einer Onlinesignatur bei Formularen an der Universität" und Lena Gappmaier "RepairCafé: an der Universität werden alte Geräte repariert".

The Austrian Science Fund FWF has selected the Doctoral Programme in Theoretical Particle Physics at the University of Graz for funding from the Doc.funds. Six young scientists will be funded for 3.5 years. They will gain fundamentally new insights into the origins of the world.

From trans women and knee prostheses: sports science prizes awarded

Walking better with a prosthesis, successfully getting rid of excess weight, training more effectively, more fairness for trans people in sport: these were the topics addressed by the students at the University of Graz who were awarded the sports science prizes for their Master's theses on 3 December 2025.
