Wissensdurst gestillt: Christof Gattringer hielt „Vorlesung“ im Innenstadt-Lokal

Wie bewegt sich ein Kind auf einer Rutsche auf dem Spielplatz hinunter? Wie würde das aber ein "Quanten-Kind" tun? Und was hat das mit schwarzen Löchern und Einstein zu tun? Viel, wie Physik-Professor Christof Gattringer erklärte. Aber nicht wie üblich im Hörsaal, sondern im Grazer Innenstadt-Pub „Hops Craft Beer“. Dort ging nämlich am 28. Mai 2019 das Comeback der Uni-Graz-Reihe „Wissensdurst – die Wissenschaftsviertelstunde“ unter der Federführung von Andrea Penz über die Bühne. WissenschafterInnen der Universität Graz erklären im Pub in 15 Minuten ihre Forschung und diskutieren dann mit den Gästen.
Gattringer erläuterte, dass Relativitätstheorie und Quantenmechanik die essentiellen Zutaten für moderne Theorien von Elementarteilchen und für das Funktionieren unserer Welt ganz entscheidend sind.

Die Veranstaltungsreihe „Wissensdurst“ ist Teil der 7. fakultät, des Zentrums für Wissen, Gesellschaft und Kommunikation der Universität Graz.

Chemical Christmas show at the University of Graz: An explosive evening at the Schauspielh

At the beginning of December, the University of Graz transformed the theater into a laboratory: as part of “Chemical Life,” teacher training students staged a chemical Christmas show for Styrian school classes—complete with ethanol rockets, nitrogen snow, and glowing effects. The Koralm railway increases the speed of networking between the two university locations. The collaboration builds on existing cooperation - for example in the areas of teacher training, Slavic studies and as employers, the universities are well coordinated.
