Aktuelle Citylight-Kampagne der Uni Graz mit Klimaschwerpunkt in der Innenstadt

Eine Hitzewelle hält Österreich derzeit fest in ihrem Griff. Ein Indiz für den Klimawandel? Ja, meinen die ExpertInnen. Der profilbildende Bereich Climate Change Graz beschäftigt sich mit dem vom Menschen verursachten Klimawandel, der zu den größten Herausforderungen des 21. Jahrhunderts zählt. Um den Temperaturanstieg auf 1,5 bis 2 Grad zu beschränken, müssen im Einklang mit den Pariser Klimazielen die CO2-Emissionen bis 2030 um mindestens 50 Prozent und bis 2050 um rund 90 Prozent gesenkt werden. Der Übergang zu einer nahezu emissionsfreien und klimarobusten Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft erfordert eine grundlegende Neuorientierung. Im Profilbildenden Bereich Climate Change Graz untersucht ein Team von mehr als hundert ForscherInnen, welche ökonomischen, produktionstechnischen, sozialen, politischen und rechtlichen Veränderungen für eine so tiefgreifende und nachhaltige Transformation notwendig sind.

In der aktuellen Citylight-Plakat-Kampagne, die bis 23. Juni 2019 in ganz Graz sichtbar ist, stellt die Universität zum dritten Mal interessante Forschungsfragen im bekannten Sedcard-Format zu aktuellen Themen.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
