Literarisches Archiv von Gerhard Roth an der Universität Graz

„Gerhard Roth war als Autor, Essayist und Photograph über viele Jahrzehnte hinweg ein verlässlicher und scharfer Beobachter österreichischer Verhältnisse“, bedauert Literaturwissenschafter Klaus Kastberger das Ableben des Autors.
„Seine Bücher zählen zum Kernbestand der österreichischen und europäischen Literatur. Sie werden uns in ihrer ungeheuren Detailfülle in Erinnerung bleiben“, würdigt der Leiter des Franz-Nabl-Instituts für Literaturforschung an der Universität Graz Roths Werk und Wirken. Die Universität Graz sichert das Oeuvre des Schriftstellers für die Nachwelt.

Seit 2001 befindet sich sein literarisches Archiv am Franz-Nabl-Institut, wo es auch wissenschaftlich bearbeitet wird.
Die Sammlung umfasst Manuskripte und Korrespondenzen zu sämtlichen Werken des Autors. Allein die Bestandsliste ist 100 Seiten lang. Dazu kommen 30.000 Fotografien von Gerhard Roth, die für Forschungszwecke zugänglich sind.

A large number of soil animals are smaller than one millimetre and are therefore difficult to study scientifically. Biologists from the University of Graz have now developed a method to determine both the shape and the DNA of the organisms. The results have been published in the journal Geoderma.

Impressions of a writer: 40,000 photographs by Gerhard Roth available online

The Styrian author Gerhard Roth (1942-2022) was also active as a photographic artist. With his literary work, he left tens of thousands of photographs to the Franz Nabl Institute at the University of Graz during his lifetime. The majority of these have now been digitised and made accessible online.
