Wann bin ich alt?

Am 1. Oktober wird der internationale Tag der älteren Menschen begangen. Warum das Sinn macht, weiß Kulturwissenschafterin Ulla Kriebernegg.

In den USA und Kanada spielt das Bild älterer Menschen in Literatur, Film und Kunst eine bedeu­tende Rolle. Das war für Ulla Kriebernegg, Amerikanistin und Kulturwissenschafterin, der Ausgangspunkt, sich dem Thema aus europäischer Perspektive zu nähern. Die Leiterin des Zentrums für interdisziplinäre Alterns- und Care-Forschung der Universität Graz hinterfragt Bilder und Begriffe, die das Alter in unserer Gesellschaft prägen. Die Forscherin erklärt, wie Jung und Alt gut zusammenleben können, und warum ein notwendig ist, alljährlich am 1. Oktober einen intenationalen Tag der älteren Menschen zu begehen.

The Gerontological Society of America has appointed the Americanist and ageing researcher as the only non-American member of the Board of Directors. The term of office begins in January 2025.
