Katholisch-Theologische Fakultät der Uni Graz feiert 70 Jahre Wiedererrichtung

Im März 1939 wurde die Theologische Fakultät der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz auf reichsministeriellen Erlass mit jener der Uni Wien zusammengelegt. „De facto existierte daher während des Zweiten Weltkriegs in Graz keine theologische Forschung und Lehre“, so Dekan Univ.-Prof. Dr. Reinhold Esterbauer. Heute vor 70 Jahren, am 22. September 1945, erlebte die Katholisch-Theologische Fakultät – ursprünglich eine der beiden Gründungsfakultäten der Uni Graz im Jahr 1585 – ihre Wiedergeburt.

Im Schnittfeld zwischen Wissenschaft, Gesellschaft und Kirche verortet, sieht sich die Fakultät heute als Vermittlerin im ökumenischen und interreligiösen Dialog. „Besonders angesichts aktueller humanitärer Herausforderungen, in denen zunehmend religiöse Aspekte bedeutsam sind, leistet unsere Fakultät einen enorm wichtigen Beitrag zum konstruktiven gesellschaftlichen Zusammenleben“, unterstreicht Dekan Reinhold Esterbauer. Auch Rektorin Christa Neuper betont: "Die Katholisch-Theologische Fakultät ist ein integraler Bestandteil der Karl-Franzens-Universität. Sie greift gesellschaftliche und kirchliche Themen von heute wissenschaftlich auf und reflektiert aktuelle Fragen." Mit einer Reihe von öffentlichen Vorträgen diskutiert die Fakultät in diesem Herbst die Bedeutung der Theologie für Gesellschaft, Universität und Kirche nicht nur in der Vergangenheit, sondern auch in Gegenwart und Zukunft. Das Generalthema lautet „Widerstand“, dazu sind folgende Veranstaltungen geplant:

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
