Helmut Schüller diskutierte den Erneuerungsbedarf der Kirche im Politik Café

"Eine Reform fällt nicht vom Himmel, sie muss von der Basis ausgehen", erklärte Helmut Schüller, Begründer der Pfarrer-Initiative, im Rahmen der gestrigen Diskussion im Opern Café. Markus Steppan hatte den "ungehorsamen" Geistlichen im Rahmen seiner Reihe "Politik Café" zur Diskussion über die Dieffamierung der Reformer in der katholischen Kirche eingeladen, die mit den ZuhörerInnen dann auch intensiv geführt wurde.

Schüller begründete seine Initiative als "Zeichen der Ungeduld, dass in der Kirche nichts weitergeht". Sie habe auch ein haarsträubendes Verständnis von Gehorsam aufgezeigt. Mittlerweile sind auch Aktivitäten in Deutschland, Irland, der Schweiz und den USA nach dem Vorbild der österreichischen Pfarrer-Initiative gestartet worden. Auf Steppans Frage, inwieweit der neue Papst nun die Hoffnung auf Reformen nähre, meinet Schüller: "Es gibt interessante Signale, aber man muss am Teppich bleiben. Wir wissen nicht, ob ihn jemand unterstützt."

Die Veranstaltungsreihe "Politik Café" ist Teil der 7. fakultät, des Zentrums für Gesellschaft, Wissen und Kommunikation der Uni Graz.
