Situationselastisch und Negerkonglomerat sind die Gewinner

Die Wahl ist geschlagen: Das Wort des Jahres 2014 lautet "situationselastisch" und geht auf eine Äußerung des Verteidigungsministers Gerald Klug zurück. Klug erklärte damit beim Ministerrats-Pressefoyer das mögliche Fernbleiben von Kanzler und Vizekanzler bei künftigen Pressefoyers. Zum Unwort des Jahres kürte die Jury rund um den Uni-Graz-Sprachwissenschafter Prof. Dr. Rudolf Muhr das Wort "Negerkonglomerat", welches vom ehemaligen FPÖ-Spitzenkandidat Andreas Mölzer im Europawahlkampf 2014 in einer Rede gebraucht wurde. Das Jugendwort 2014 ist "Selfie" und weist auf den Selbstdarstellungsdrang von (größtenteils) Jugendlichen hin.

Den Spruch des Jahres markierte der ORF-Moderator Andi Knoll bereits im Mai, als er während der Live-Übertragung des Eurovisions-Songcontests 2014 den Satz "Jetzt hat uns die den Schaas gewonnen" bildete. Er meinte den plötzlichen und unverhofften Sieg von Conchita Wurst. Die Ex-Justizministerin und Generalsekretärin des Dialogzentrums Wien, Claudia Bandion-Ortner, zeichnet für den Unspruch des Jahres "Enthauptungen: Das ist nicht jeden Freitag" verantwortlich. Sie äußerte ihn im Rahmen eines Interviews auf die Frage, wie es sich mit den freitags stattfindenden Hinrichtungen in Saudi-Arabien verhält.

In der Vorwahl gingen 2120 Stimmen ein, bei der Wahl 36.040. "Das ist das höchste je erreichte Zahl an gültigen Stimmen", freut sich Initiator Rudolf Muhr. Die Liste aller Wörter und die Entscheidungen der Jury auf http://www-oedt.kfunigraz.ac.at/oewort/

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.
