Heute präsentiert der AirCampus-Podcast: Das Tint Journal, Plattform für auf Englisch schreibende AutorInnen

Die Podcast-Plattform der Grazer Universtitäten, der AirCampus, präsentiert in dieser Woche vier Wissens-Beiträge - allesamt im Homeoffice gestaltet - zu folgenden Themen:

1) Ti(n)t for tat: Das "Tint Jounal" ist eine online Plattform für AutorInnen aus aller Welt, die auf Englisch schreiben, aber andere Muttersprachen haben. Gegründet in Graz, können mittlerweile auch internationale, bildende KünstlerInnen ihre Werke hier veröffentlichen.

2) Der Mann fürs Ultrafeine: Damit die EU bis 2050 klimaneutral wird, müssen strengere Abgasnormen her. Ob es technisch machbar und sinnvoll wäre, auch die Emission von kleinsten Partikeln zu regulieren, erforscht Markus Bainschab im Projekt "DownToTen".

3) Starke Abwehr: Kann uns eine ausgewogene Ernährung vor einer Corona-Infektion schützen? Erforscht ist das noch nicht ausreichend, es gibt allerdings starke Hinweise auf die wichtige Rolle, die Mikronährstoffe für das Immunsystem spielen.

4) Preisregen: Gleich drei Jazz-Studierende der KUG sind heuer mit den „DownBeat Student Music Awards“ des renommierten US-Jazz-Magazins Downbeat ausgezeichnet worden. Der AirCampus hat mit Ursula Reicher und einer zweiten Gewinnerin gesprochen.

Was ist der AirCampus?
Das Podcast-Projekt der vier Grazer Universitäten versorgt MitarbeiterInnen, Studierende sowie alle Interessierten das ganze Studienjahr über mit wissenswerten Infos aus der Welt der Forschung, aus dem Bildungsbereich und dem Campusleben der Universität Graz, Technischen Universität, Medizinischen Universität und Kunstuniversität. Früher als "Webradio" bekannt, gibt es auf der Website http://www.aircampus-graz.at auch alle Podcasts, die vor dem 2. Oktober 2017 publiziert wurden, im Archiv zum Nachhören. Uns gibt es übrigens auch auf Spotify und iTunes!

Die Initiative erhielt 2012 den Inge-Morath-Preis des Landes Steiermark, 2017 den PR-Panther in der Kategorie "Wissenschaft" und 2018 den Green Panther in der Kategorie Online Kommunikation.

Chemical Christmas show at the University of Graz: An explosive evening at the Schauspielh

At the beginning of December, the University of Graz transformed the theater into a laboratory: as part of “Chemical Life,” teacher training students staged a chemical Christmas show for Styrian school classes—complete with ethanol rockets, nitrogen snow, and glowing effects. An evening designed to inspire interest in studying chemistry.

Train by train: Koralm railway accelerates exchange between the Universities

Lectures at the University of Klagenfurt in the morning, seminars at the University of Graz in the afternoon: Austria's longest tunnel and a journey time of around 45 minutes make it easy. The Koralm railway increases the speed of networking between the two university locations. The collaboration builds on existing cooperation - for example in the areas of teacher training, Slavic studies and as employers, the universities are well coordinated.

On the trail of the Big Bang: University of Graz receives 1.5 million euros for doctoral programmes

The Austrian Science Fund FWF has selected the Doctoral Programme in Theoretical Particle Physics at the University of Graz for funding from the Doc.funds. Six young scientists will be funded for 3.5 years. They will gain fundamentally new insights into the origins of the world.
