Uni Graz liefert wissenschaftliches Know-how für neue Medikamente

Kleine Kügelchen, die man in den Mund steckt und problemlos auch ohne Wasser schlucken kann: das sind die Tabletten von morgen, die das deutsche Unternehmen Hermes Pharma auf den Markt bringen wird. Die Forschungsarbeit dafür haben unter anderem zwei DissertantInnen der Uni Graz beigesteuert, betreut von Andreas Zimmer vom Institut für Pharmazeutische Wissenschaften. Außerdem war das Research Center Pharmaceutical Engineering RCPE, das die Uni Graz als Partnerin hat, an der Entwicklung mit beteiligt.
„Diese Medikamente bleiben etwas länger im Mund und werden daher auch mit dem Geschmacksnerven wahrgenommen“, schildert Zimmer eine Herausforderung für die Zusammensetzung. Welche Inhalts- und Hilfsstoffe dafür am besten verwendet werden oder wie man die Wirkstoffe optimal ummantelt, war Forschungsaufgabe an die Karl-Franzens-Universität.
