Elektroauto-Partnerschaft fördert emissionsfreie Mobilität

Gerade in den Herbst- und Wintermonaten ist die Diskussion für ein feinstaubfreies Graz wieder in aller Munde. Die Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz mit ihren 32.000 Studierenden und 4.100 MitarbeiterInnen möchte dazu einen weiteren nachhaltigen und wertvollen Beitrag liefern: Gemeinsam mit dem steirischen Mobilitäts-Unternehmen „myEgo“ wurde am Campus der Universität Platz für ein Elektro-Auto geschaffen. Das Automobil kann im Rahmen des Carsharing – „Gemeinschaftsfahrzeug“ – Projekts „Postfossil“ von Studierenden, MitarbeiterInnen sowie allen GrazerInnen gebucht werden. Es wird zu 100 Prozent mit Strom aus erneuerbaren Energien betankt und hat eine Reichweite von rund 160 Kilometer. Unterstützung bekommt das Projekt auch von den politischen VertreterInnen des Bezirks Geidorf.


Ein Auto für viele
Die Wortkreation „Postfossil“ deutet auf den Beginn einer Ära ohne Kohle, Erdgas und Erdöl als Energieform hin. Das Elektroauto „Renault Zoe“ wurde von myEgo finanziert und wird am Standort Campus im Bereich Universitätsstraße/Schubertstraße geparkt. Es steht nach einer Registrierung über die Homepage www.postfossil.at und der Buchung einer NutzerInnenkarte 24 Stunden am Tag kostenpflichtig zur Verfügung. Besonders für Fahrten im Raum Graz ist das Fahrzeug eine günstige Alternative zu Öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel, da für Elektroautos noch keine Gebühren in den Grazer Zonenparkflächen zu bezahlen sind. Uni-Bedienstete können den Stromgleiter für Dienstfahrten nutzen.


Nachhaltige Universität Graz
Entsprechend dem strategischen Schwerpunkt „Nachhaltiger Campus“ der Universität wird in zahlreichen Projekten auf die Anwendung nachhaltiger Konzepte geachtet: Beim jüngsten Bau am Uni-Gelände, dem Laborgebäude am Universitätsplatz 1, wurde auf etwa eine umweltschonende Bauweise und den Einsatz alternativer Energien geachtet. Herzstück des Gebäudes ist eine rund 600 Quadratmeter große Solarthermie-Anlage am Dach, die ein Drittel des Kühlbedarfs der Laborräume abdeckt. Durch den geschickten Einsatz neuester Technologien wird der thermische Energiebedarf des Gebäudes um 50 Prozent gesenkt. In einem umfangreichen Mobilitätskonzept können MitarbeiterInnen der Uni Graz auf vergünstigte Fahrräder im Uni-Design sowie auf vergünstigte Tickets der Holding Graz Linien für die Zone 101 zurückgreifen.


myEgo
Das Mobilitäts-Contracting von myEgo bietet die Möglichkeit, zukunftsweisende E-Mobilität sorglos in Anspruch zu nehmen, ohne eigene Ressourcen dafür abzuziehen. Das umfassend betreute Konzept bietet verschiedene Module, die nach individuellen Anforderungen zusammengestellt werden. Dazu gehören Fahrzeuge vom E-Bike über E-Scooter bis zum E-Personen- oder Lieferwagen inklusive aller Serviceleistungen rund um Buchung, Wartung oder auch Panne. Ebenso die komplette Verwaltung der Abrechnung und die gezielte Organisation bewusstseinsbildender Maßnahmen und von Infoveranstaltungen. Das trägt dazu bei, dass die Projekte auch gut vom Nutzer angenommen werden. myEgo bietet mit dem postfossil-Projekt im urbanen Lebensraum ein umfassendes, umweltfreundliches und damit zukunftsweisendes Komplettkonzept für Mobilität ohne Besitz – dafür mit umso mehr gutem Gewissen.

In future, students will benefit from even more joint degree programmes and from simplified recognition of academic achievements through the Joint European Degree Label.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
