Germanistik-Studierende verfassten 110-Seiten-Arbeit über Emotionen in mittelalterlicher Literatur zur Pest im Vergleich mit Corona

Eigentlich hätten die elf Studierenden des Bachelor-Seminars „Emotionen in der mittelalterlichen Literatur“ unter der Leitung von Brigitte Spreitzer-Fleck am Ende dieses Semesters jeweils eine Seminararbeit zu einem von verschiedenen Themen abgeben sollen. Doch dann kam mit dem Lockdown alles anders. „Nach einer kurzen Schrecksekunde ließen wir uns darauf ein, den Fokus auf die Gunst – oder Ungunst – der Stunde zu schwenken und die übergeordnete Fragestellung ,Emotionen in der Literatur des Mittelalters‘ auf einen Vergleich der Covid-19-Pandemie mit der Pest zu beziehen“, berichtet Spreitzer-Fleck. Der Schwarze Tod hatte in Europa zwischen 1346 und 1353 mutmaßlich ein Drittel der damaligen Bevölkerung hinweggerafft.

Nach zwei Treffen, die noch am Campus stattfanden, wurde die Kommunikation auf Skype-Konferenzen umgestellt. Und die Recherche nach Quellentexten und Sekundärliteratur konnte nur mehr im World Wide Web stattfinden. Das Ergebnis ist ein bemerkenswertes Werk: Anstelle einzelner Analysen entstand in Co-Produktion aller Studierenden ein 110 Seiten starkes Portfolio. Es gibt einen Einblick in die Emotionstheorie des Mittelalters im Vergleich zur Gegenwart, trägt zum besseren Verständnis der alten Texte bei und zeigt den Umgang mit Krankheiten damals und heute auf.
