NachwuchswissenschafterInnen präsentierten ihre Arbeit beim ersten Doctoral Academy Day an der Uni Graz

Im Rahmen des ersten Doctoral Academy Day am 10. November 2017 an der Uni Graz stellten DoktorandInnen ausgewählte Aspekte ihrer Arbeit vor. Die von der Klima- bis zur Krebsforschung reichenden Präsentationen dokumentierten eindrucksvoll die von NachwuchswissenschafterInnen der Karl-Franzens-Universität geleisteten Beiträge zu gesellschaftlich hochrelevanter und international anschlussfähiger Forschung.

Vizerektor Peter Scherrer, Direktor der Doctoral Academy Graz, betonte in seiner Rede die besondere Funktion dieser Einrichtung für die Sichtbarkeit der Forschung. Die Doctoral Academy sei ein wesentliches Instrument zur weiteren Erhöhung der Attraktivität der Universität Graz für hochqualifizierte internationale DoktorandInnen und die Etablierung interuniversitärer Forschungsnetzwerke.

Abgeschlossen wurde der Doctoral Academy Day mit der Public Lecture „Getting a Digital Life: Academic Self-Presentation Online“. Der in Kooperation mit American Studies Graz organisierte Vortrag von Sidonie Smith (University of Michigan) und Julia Watson (Ohio State University) unternahm eine für alle an Fragen des Digital Life Writing Interessierten spannende Analyse verschiedener Aspekte von Selbstinszenierung und -darstellung im World Wide Web.
