Sommerschule zur Rolle der EU im Konfliktmanagement des Südkaukasus

Die Unterzeichnung des zukunftsweisenden Assoziationsabkommens zwischen der EU und Georgien ist nur wenige Tage her – im Windschatten dieses Ereignisses veranstaltet das Zentrum Russian, East European & Eurasian Studies (REEES) der Uni Graz eine internationale Sommerschule zu Fragen des EU-Rechts und der Rolle der EU im Konfliktmanagement des Südkaukasus. Der Startschuss zur knapp zweiwöchigen Summerschool erfolgte am Samstag, dem 12. Juli 2014.

Heuer jährt sich das Format "EULISC", kurz für "EU Law in the South Caucasus", bereits zum zweiten Mal. Wie im vergangenen Jahr findet auch heuer die Sommerschule in der georgischen Hafenstadt Batumi, Hauptstadt der Autonomen Republik Adscharien, statt. Auch politisch wird diesem internationalen Lehrprogramm in der Region höchste Bedeutung beigemessen: So wurde die offizielle Eröffnung der Sommerschule von Alex Petriaschwili, dem georgischen Staatsminister für EU-Integration, vorgenommen.

Abgesehen vom geplanten Curriculum, das durch ProfessorInnen und Lehrende der Universität Graz vermittelt wird, setzten die Verantwortlichen auf das bewährte Konzept von spannenden Gastvorträgen. Hierbei konnte wie im vergangenen Jahr eine beachtliche Diversität an GastlektorInnen gewonnen werden, die anhand konkreter Fälle verschiedene Probleme und Potentiale des Südkaukasus in vielerlei Hinsicht darstellen. Die Gastvortragenden aus Armenien, der Türkei und dem Iran werden dadurch die Lehre des Kernteams der Universität Graz komplementär unterstützen und ergänzen.

The Austrian Science Fund FWF has selected the Doctoral Programme in Theoretical Particle Physics at the University of Graz for funding from the Doc.funds. Six young scientists will be funded for 3.5 years. They will gain fundamentally new insights into the origins of the world.

From trans women and knee prostheses: sports science prizes awarded

Walking better with a prosthesis, successfully getting rid of excess weight, training more effectively, more fairness for trans people in sport: these were the topics addressed by the students at the University of Graz who were awarded the sports science prizes for their Master's theses on 3 December 2025.
