Portico garantiert Verfügbarkeit von E-Journals und E-Books über Backup-System

Die Forschenden, Lehrenden und die Studierenden der Karl-Franzens-Universität müssen sich in Zukunft keine Sorgen mehr über die Verfügbarkeit der Inhalte von E-Books und E-Journals machen. Die Universitätsbibliothek (UB) hat in Portico einen namhaften Partner für ein digitales Backup-System gefunden. Portico bietet Bibliotheken eine zuverlässige und kostengünstige Lösung, um sicherzustellen, dass ihre NutzerInnen auch während Krisenzeiten, wie zum Beispiel einem Verlags-Konkurs, Server-Crash oder Verlagswechsel einer Zeitschrift, ungehindert Zugang zu den abonnierten E-Journals und E-Books haben.

Die UB beteiligt sich über die Kooperation E-Medien Österreich am österreichischen Portico-Konsortium. Mitglieder sind neben der Uni Graz das Institute of Science and Technology Austria (I.S.T.), das Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), die Universität Wien sowie vier weitere Forschungseinrichtungen.
Über Verträge zwischen Portico und mehr als 200 großen, wissenschaftlichen Verlagen, darunter Springer, Elsevier oder die Nature Publishing Group, werden die rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen zur Speicherung und Zurverfügungstellung der digitalen Kopien geregelt.

Für den Archivierungsprozess werden die lizensierten Inhalte verarbeitet und auf den Portico-Servern abgelegt. Die Daten-Pools unterliegen einem regelmäßigen Monitoring, um beschädigte Daten wiederherzustellen oder zu ersetzen beziehungsweise sie in ein neues Format zu migrieren, falls dies notwendig werden sollte.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
