Biologie-Dissertant Philipp Resl mit renommiertem Flechten-Forschungspreis ausgezeichnet

Sie wachsen überall, unter extremsten Bedingungen, und geben der Wissenschaft auch nach über hundert Jahren noch Rätsel auf: Flechten und ihre komplexe Symbiose sind längst nicht umfassend erforscht. Neue Möglichkeiten der Genomanalyse und eine Sequenziertechnologie könnte nun helfen, bislang offene Fragen zu beantworten. Philipp Resl hat sich in seiner Dissertation im Rahmen eines Forschungsprojekts am Institut für Biologie damit beschäftigt und die Basis für weitere Untersuchungen geschaffen. Für die Arbeit wurde er kürzlich mit dem renommierten Mason Hale Award der International Association of Lichenology ausgezeichnet, der nur alle zwei Jahre für ein einziges Dissertationsprojekt weltweit vergeben wird.
