Ehemaliger Rektor Em.Univ.-Prof. Dr. phil. et Dr. theol. Winfried Gruber am 30. April 2013 verstorben

Die Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz erfüllt die traurige Pflicht mitzuteilen, dass Em.Univ.-Prof. Dr. phil. et Dr. theol. Winfried Gruber am 30. April 2013 verstorben ist.
Winfried Gruber, 1926 geboren, war von 1963 bis 1992 Ordentlicher Universitätsprofessor für Dogmatik an der Universität Graz. In den Jahren 1963/64 und 1971/72 übte er das Amt des Dekans aus, von 1972 bis 1973 war Winfried Gruber Rektor der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz.

1984 erhielt Winfried Gruber das Ehrenzeichen in Gold für seine besonderen Verdienste um die Stadt Graz. 1985 wurde ihm das österreichische Ehrenkreuz für Wissenschaft und Kunst I. Klasse verliehen. Im Jahre 1994 wurde er auch Träger des Großen, Goldenen Ehrenzeichens des Landes Steiermark.

Nach der Priesterweihe bekleidete der Grazer von 1950 bis 1952 das Amt eines Präfekten am Knabenseminar/Graz. 1952 promovierte er zum Dr. theol. mit der Dissertation „Die Exegese der alexandrinischen Schule“. Nach Studien der Philosophie am Angelicum in Rom und Löwen/Belgien promovierte er 1955 zum Dr. phil. in Rom. Von 1955 bis 1958 war er als Religionslehrer an der LBA der Schulschwestern in Graz tätig. 1956 begann er am Institut für Moraltheologie und Dogmatik in Graz seine wissenschaftliche Laufbahn. 1958 wurde er für Katholische Dogmatik habilitiert mit einer Arbeit zum Thema „Grundzüge einer Theologie des Zeitbegriffs: Zeit und Ewigkeit in der Theologie.“

Von 1972 bis 1973 war er Rektor der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz. 1984 erhielt Winfried Gruber das Ehrenzeichen in Gold für seine besonderen Verdienste um die Stadt Graz. 1985 wurde ihm das österreichische Ehrenkreuz für Wissenschaft und Kunst I. Klasse verliehen. Im Jahre 1994 wurde er auch Träger des Großen, Goldenen Ehrenzeichens des Landes Steiermark.

Der Gedenkgottesdienst für den Verstorbenen, findet am 15. Mai 2013 um 16.30 Uhr, in der Stadtpfarrkirche Graz, Herrengasse 23, statt.

Yet this is precisely where the medical promise of her research lies: one day, clinical data will be used to create a digital twin of the heart – a virtual model that will enable a better understanding of diseases and allow for more personalised treatment plans. She will be presenting her research at the ‘ECMTB 2026’ mathematics conference.
