Der Botanische Garten präsentierte eine neue App, die Pflanzen erklärt

Was blüht gerade? Wie finde ich am schnellsten zur Hainbuche? Was gibt es hier überhaupt zu sehen? Wer den Botanischen Garten der Uni Graz auf eigene Faust erkunden möchte, kann ab sofort ein neues Hilfsmittel nutzen: Gartenleiter Christian Berg und IT-Spezialist Ulrich Walder präsentierten gestern eine neue App, die als mobiler Pflanzenführer dient. Mithilfe der Software, die kostenlos im Google App-Store zum Download bereitsteht, lassen sich ohne permanente Internet-Verbindung verschiedene Routen durch Gewächshäuser und Freiland verfolgen. Das Programm stellt zu den einzelnen Pflanzen Fotos und Kurzinformationen bereit, kann aktiv zu Suchpunkten leiten und auf weiterführende Informationen ins Internet verlinken. Weiters bietet es die Möglichkeit, selbst Notizen oder Fotos einzufügen und stellt auf Knopfdruck auch die Verbindung zu Facebook her. Entwickelt wurde die App von der Firma AIONAV Systems AG, einem von Ulrich Walder gegründetem Start-up-Unternehmen der TU Graz.

The Austrian Science Fund FWF has selected the Doctoral Programme in Theoretical Particle Physics at the University of Graz for funding from the Doc.funds. Six young scientists will be funded for 3.5 years. They will gain fundamentally new insights into the origins of the world.
