Landtagspräsidentin Bettina Vollath gratulierte den PreisträgerInnen und drückte ihre Bewunderung für die Leistungen aus.

"Frieden kannst du nur haben, wenn du Frieden gibst", führte Rudi Roth als seine Motivation an, Forschung zum südosteuropäischen Raum zu unterstützten.

Rektorin Christa Neuper bedankte sich für die Unterstützung des Unternehmers, ohne die viele Studierende keine Auslandserfahrungen machen könnten.

Rudi Roth fördert Studierende der Uni Graz

Der Honorarkonsul von Ungarn und erfolgreiche Unternehmer Senator Rudi Roth hat heute, Freitag, gemeinsam mit Landtagspräsidentin Dr. Bettina Vollath sieben Studierende der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz ausgezeichnet: Elvira Hamidović, Harm Rudolf Kern, Višnja Kokotović, Zoran Mitrović, Melita Suljević, Zsófia Takácsy und Anikó Tóth werden für ihre Abschlussarbeiten mit insgesamt knapp 9.000 Euro unterstützt. Ihre Forschungsthemen betreffen allesamt Südosteuropa und behandeln verschiedene Aspekte wie „Berufsorientierung und studienfachbezogene Einstellung österreichischer und ungarischer Studierender“, „Migration am Beispiel Serbien“ oder „Translationsunterricht und Translationskultur in Bosnien und Herzegowina“.
„Es ist mir ein Anliegen, ausgezeichnete JungakademikerInnen meiner Alma mater zu fördern. Von einer hervorragenden Ausbildung profitiert auch der heimische Wirtschaftsstandort“, begründet der Uni-Graz-Absolvent Roth sein Engagement. Seine Stipendien wurden heuer zum 16. Mal verliehen, seit dem Jahr 2001 hat er insgesamt mehr als 200.000 Euro zur Verfügung gestellt. Das Geld ermöglicht den Ausgezeichneten jeweils einen Forschungsaufenthalt in Bosnien und Herzegowina, Serbien, Montenegro beziehungsweise Ungarn.
Rektorin Christa Neuper dankte dem Unternehmer für seine Verbundenheit: „Die großzügige finanzielle Unterstützung erleichtert den Blick über den Tellerrand, der gerade in Zeiten wie diesen so wichtig ist für ein funktionierendes Zusammenleben in der Gesellschaft.“
