Sport der Extreme: Diskussion und Film begeisterte Publikum

Phänomen extrem: 120 Meter in Meerestiefe ohne Sauerstoffflasche, mit dem Fahrrad Kontinente durchqueren, Fliegen im freien Fall: Sport wird immer extremer. Was steckt dahinter? Dieser Frage ging die Veranstaltung „Der bewegte Körper“ am 20. Jänner 2015 nach. In einer Sonderausgabe der Uni-Graz-Reihe begrüßte Sportwissenschafter Gerhard Tschakert als Gast Sascha Köllnreitner, Regisseur des erfolgreichen und beindruckenden Extremsport-Films „Attention - A Life In Extremes“.

Köllnreitner blickte auf die Hinter- und Beweggründe seines Films, der im Anschluss an das Gespräch das Publikum im randvollen Hörsaal begeisterte. „ Ich wollte keinen Sportfilm machen. Für mich war der Leistungsgedanke interessant und wie weit die Menschen gehen“, erklärte Köllnreitner seine Intention. Die Dreharbeiten in den Elementen Luft (Wing-Suit-Fliegen), Wasser (Apnoe-Tauchen) und Erde (Race across am America) glichen den Extremsportarten und erstreckten sich über drei Jahre. „Ich sehe das Thema nach wie vor sehr ambivalent, der Blick darauf hat sich aber verändert“, gestand der Regisseur.

Unter den 200 BesucherInnen befand sich auch ein prominenter Extremsportler: der dreifache Race-Across-America-Sieger Christoph Strasser, der 2012 in der Reihe „der bewegte Körper" zu Gast war.

„Der bewegte Körper“ ist Teil der 7. fakultät, des Zentrums für Gesellschaft, Wissen und Kommunikation der Uni Graz.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
