Kommunikation von Klimawandel-Themen

ExpertInnen präsentierten Forschungen und Praxisbeispiele bei internationalem Symposium in Graz

Die Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz war von 7. bis 9. Februar 2018 Gastgeberin des „2. World Symposium on Climate Change Communication“. Im Mittelpunkt der Veranstaltung standen die Herausforderungen bei der Kommunikation von Themen zum Klimawandel an unterschiedliche Zielgruppen.

Die UN-Rahmenkonvention zum Klimawandel unterstreicht die Bedeutung, die breite Öffentlichkeit mit Informationen zu diesem Themenkomplexes zu versorgen  sowie die Notwendigkeit, verschiedene Stakeholder in die Debatte miteinzubeziehen. Um das zu erreichen, gilt es Zugänge, Prozesse, Methoden und Werkzeuge für die Klimawandel-Kommunikation zu identifizieren und in die Praxis umzusetzen.

Das Symposium, das vom „International Climate Change Information Programme (ICCIP) der Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften Hamburg (HAW Hamburg) und der Manchester Metropolitan University/UK gemeinsam mit dem Doktoratskolleg Klimawandel an der Uni Graz als Mitveranstalter organisiert wurde, bot eine Plattform zur Reflexion von Forschungsergebnissen und Umsetzungsprojekten. Rund 70 Beiträge aus 20 Ländern wurden für das Programm eingereicht.

Neben WissenschafterInnen waren unter anderem MitarbeiterInnen von NGOs, VertreterInnen aus Industrie und Regierungsorganisationen sowie BeraterInnen zum Austausch eingeladen, um so die Übertragung erfolgreicher Ansätze in neue Gebiete und Bereiche zu ermöglichen.
