Intensive Zusammenarbeit

Die Universitäten Graz und Zagreb kooperieren in der Forschung und auf studentischer Ebene

Seit über 30 Jahren besteht eine intensive wissenschaftliche Kooperation zwischen dem Institut für Pharmazeutische Wissenschaften der Universität Graz und der Fakultät für Pharmazie und Biochemie der Universität Zagreb, in deren Rahmen sowohl gemeinsame Forschungsprojekte als auch Lehrenden- und Studierendenmobilität durchgeführt wurden. Die Forschungsergebnisse wurden in gemeinsamen Publikationen in Fachzeitschriften und auf internationalen Kongressen präsentiert.

Auf der Seite der Karl-Franzens-Universität wird die Kooperation auf dem Gebiet der Pharmakognosie vor allem von Frau Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Adelheid Brantner getragen, die in ihrer Arbeitsgruppe schon zahlreiche Pharmaziestudierende der Universität Zagreb begrüßen durfte. Als engagierte Partnerin in der Pharmazie der Universität Zagreb fungiert Prof. Dr. Sanda Vladimir-Knežević, Leiterin des Departments für Pharmakognosie.


Am 24. April 2015 wurden Prof. Jerka Dumić, Dekanin der Fakultät für Pharmazie und Biochemie, Assoc. Prof. Lidija Bach-Rojeck , Vizedekanin für Lehre und Prof. Sanda Vladimir-Knežević, Vizedekanin für Forschung, von Ao.Univ.- Prof. Dr. Ursula Athenstaedt, Vizedekanin für Lehre, zu einem Gespräch empfangen. Neben der Studierendenmoblität wurden auch gemeinsame zukünftige Forschungsprojekte und deren Fördermöglichkeiten diskutiert.


Zur gleichen Zeit waren auch 50 Pharmaziestudierende der Universität Zagreb für zwei Tage an der Universität Graz zu Gast, um die Universität und das Pharmaziestudium kennen zu lernen. Sie besuchten einige Lehrveranstaltungen sowie den Botanischen Garten. Auf universitärer Ebene ist die Universität Zagreb bereits seit 1991 eine Partneruniversität der Universität Graz. Nun unterzeichneten die VertreterInnen der Studierenden beider Hochschülerschaften ein Kooperationsabkommen, um die Zusammenarbeit auch auf studentischer Ebene in Zukunft zu intensivieren.

The University of Graz is further expanding its international study opportunities through the European university alliance Arqus and is taking the lead in two key projects. In future, students will benefit from even more joint degree programmes and from simplified recognition of academic achievements through the Joint European Degree Label.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
