Die Teilnehmenden des UNISTART-Ausbildungsprogramm für Führungskräfte erhielten ihre Zertifikate

Teams richtig anleiten, MitarbeiterInnen nachhaltig motivieren, Konflikte mit Bedacht entschärfen: Führungskräfte müssen mehr können als "nur" im Arbeitsrecht sattelfest und in der Budgetplanung weitsichtig sein. Die Universität Graz unterstützt Personen mit leitender Funktion dabei, den Anforderungen ihres Jobs bestmöglich gerecht zu werden - mit dem UNISTART-Ausbildungsprogramm.

Dieses besteht aus fünf Basis- sowie zwei Wahl-Modulen, die insgesant sieben Tage in Anspruch nehmen. Auch die Möglichkeit ein umfassendes, für die tägliche Arbeit nützliches Netzwerk an der Universität aufzubauen und dieses über das Ende des Programms hinaus zu pflegen, ist Teil dieser Weiterbildung. Nach einem Jahr werden den Führungskräften ihre Zertfikate in feierlichem Rahmen überreicht.

Der aktuelle Durchgang erhielt die Bestätigungen am 29. Juni 2015 im Garten des Personalressorts. Dessen Leiter, Dr. Kurt-Martin Lugger, bedankte sich bei den Teilnehmenden für Interesse und Engagement und rief zur Mundpropaganda auf: "Wir verbessern unser Programm laufend durch Ihre Rückmeldungen und hoffen, damit zu einem reibungslosen Miteinander sowohl in der Forschung als auch im administrativen Bereich beizutragen." Mag. Kerstin Käfer bat seitens der Personalentwicklung der Uni Graz nach der Verleihung zu einem kleinen Buffet.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
