Großes Fest anlässlich zehn Jahre RCE Graz-Styria

Zehn Jahre ist es her, seitdem das Regional Centre of Expertise Graz-Styria feierlich ins Leben gerufen wurde. Eng verwoben mit dem Nachhaltigkeitsgedanken der Universität Graz hat das Zentrum mit international orientierten Projekten immer wieder starke Forschungskompetenz bewiesen. In einem feierlichem Rahmen an der Universität Graz wurde nun diesem ersten "runden" Geburstag gebührender Beifall geleistet. Rektorin Christa Neuper betonte in ihren einleitenden Worten einmal mehr die Wichtigkeit der Wirkung "unserer Universität" nach außen: "Wir haben als Universität einen wichtigen gesellschaftlichen Auftrag, das hier generierte Wissen mit anderen zu teilen, auch mit der Gesellschaft in der Region." Die renommierte Klimaforscherin und Uni-Graz-Unirätin Helga Kromp-Kolb war ebenfalls zu Gast wieder Obmann von SEKEM Österreich, Dr. Hermann Becke, Ministerialrätin Dr. Evi Frei vom Bundesministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Wirtschaft sowie die Dekanin der URBI-Fakultät Barbara Gasteiger-Klicpera. Zentrumsleiter O.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Friedrich Zimmermann hielt die Festrede, der Superar-Kinderchor bildete das musikalische Rahmenprogramm.

The Austrian Science Fund FWF has selected the Doctoral Programme in Theoretical Particle Physics at the University of Graz for funding from the Doc.funds. Six young scientists will be funded for 3.5 years. They will gain fundamentally new insights into the origins of the world.
