Institute für Anglistik und Amerikanistik prämieren fünf besten Absolventinnen des vergangenen Studienjahres

Sie absolvierten ihr Studium der Anglistik/Amerikanistik mit durchwegs den besten Noten und lieferten zudem eine hervorragende Abschlussarbeit ab – Grund genug für die beiden Institute, ihre fünf besten Absolventinnen des Studienjahres 2018/2019 mit dem traditionsreichen Excellence Award zu würdigen.

Zum insgesamt 18. Mal fand die Verleihung heuer statt, wie in den vergangenen Jahren diente auch dieses Mal der Festsaal des Meerscheinlössls als feierlicher Rahmen und Don Adolfo wählte für jede Preisträgerin ein passendes Musikstück aus seinem Repertoire aus.
Die Preisträgerinnen können für sich einen Notendurchschnitt von höchstens 1,36 verbuchen, haben beide Studienabschnitte mit „Sehr gut“ abgeschlossen und eine mit „Sehr gut“ benotete Abschlussarbeit abgegeben. Ausgezeichnet wurden heuer:

Martin Löschnigg, Leiter des Instituts für Anglistik, und Nassim Winnie Balestrini, Leiterin des Instituts für Amerikanistik, gratulierten den PreisträgerInnen ebenso wie die Abschlussarbeitsbetreuerinnen Margit Reitbauer und Maria Löschnigg. Nicht zuletzt gaben sich auch GEWI-Dekan Michael Walter und Vizerektor Peter Riedler - in Vertretung von Rektor Martin Polaschek - die Ehre und spornten die top Alumni an, weiterhin einen exzellenten Karriereweg zu verfolgen.

This makes it all the more important to gain a better understanding of the processes taking place on our nearest star. A research team from the University of Graz and the High Altitude Observatory in Boulder (USA) has succeeded in doing just that. The astrophysicists have developed an AI-supported method that makes even the smallest structures on the Sun visible. The scientists are convinced that this will bring about a lasting change in solar observation and that the new method can be used for the planned European Solar Telescope.
