Erfolgreicher Auftakt

Ringvorlesung zu muslimischen Lebenswelten gestartet, nächste Vorlesung am 20. März

Islam- und muslimbezogene Fragen werden in vielen Kontexten öffentlich diskutiert: Fragen zu Migration, Integration oder Bildungspolitik sind Beispiele für solche Debatten. Die Frage, in welch vielen verschiedenen Lebenswelten sich die MuslimInnen Europas bewegen, wird dabei allerdings oft ausgespart. "Dabei hilft uns gerade der Gedanke an diese Pluralität muslimisches Leben in Europa besser zu verstehen und antizipieren zu können", unterstreichen Univ.-Prof. Dr. Ulrike Bechmann vom Institut für Religionswissenschaft und Univ.-Prof. Dr. Kerem Öktem vom Zentrum für Südosteuropastudien der Uni Graz. Die beiden ForscherInnen stehen hinter einer achtteiligen, öffentlichen Ringvorlesung zu muslimischen Lebenswelten in Europa, die diesen Montag startet.

Nach den Eröffnungsworten von Vizerektor Dr. Peter Riedler sprach Prof. Dr. Armina Omerika, Juniorprofessorin für Ideengeschichte des Islam an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, zum Thema "Muslime in Europa: Kontexte, Gemeinschaften, Lebenswelten". Das Besondere der Ringvorlesung ist, dass an jeden Vortrag ein Kommentar eines/einer ForscherIn der Uni Graz geknüpft ist. Diese Kommentare erweitern den Inhalt des Vortrags nicht nur um eine andere wissenschaftliche Dimension, sie verdeutlichen zusätzlich auch die breite Fachkompetenz der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz im Bereich Islam und Islamwissenschaften.

Die nächste Veranstaltung der Ringvorlesung findet am Montag, 20. März 2017, von 17 bis 19 Uhr statt. Prof. Dr. Harry Harun Behr, Professor für Erziehungswissenschaft mit Schwerpunkt Islam an der Goethe Universität Frankfurt am Main, referiert zum Thema "Islamische Theologie im Diskurs". Das Kommentar wird von Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Karl Prenner gestaltet. Veranstaltungsort ist immer das Sitzungszimmer 15.21. im RESOWI-Zentrum (Bauteil A/2.OG).

Long Night of Research: How many languages are there in the world?

Visitors can immerse themselves in the diversity of languages without travelling far by taking part in a quiz at the station.
