Uni Graz vergab E-Learning-Champion: Delia Pagano ist Gewinnerin des Preises 2014

Die Verleihung des ELCHs im Dezember gehört zu den Fixterminen an der Universität Graz. In diesem Jahr wurde der 9. "E-Learning-Champion" - ELCH - an Studierende und Lehrende der Uni Graz vergeben, die sich besonders mit "kollaborativen Werkzeugen" und Neuen Medien beschäftigen. Den Auftakt der Veranstaltung am 3. Dezember 2014 im ehrwürdigen Hauptlesesaal der Universitätsbibliothek bildete ein zum Generalthema "Kollaboration" - Zusammenarbeit - passender Gastvortrag von Dr. Thomas Strasser von der Pädagogischen Hochschule Wien. Der Sieger des ELCH-Preises 2013, Mag. Dipl-Ing. Gerald Senarclens de Grancy, zeigte vorab in einer kurzen Präsentation, wie sich sein Sieger-Projekt innerhalb des vergangenen Jahres weiterentwickelt hat.

Der Vizerektor für Studium und Lehre Martin Polaschek, der - wie auch die Wirtschaftskammer Steiermark - den Preis finanziell unterstützt, nahm die Ehrungen vor. Die SiegerInnen der einzelnen ELCHe-2014 sind:

Initiiert und organisiert wird die ELCH-Verleihung seit 2005 von der Akademie für Neue Medien und Wissenstransfer der Universität Graz.

“HeinrichBiCool”: University of Graz demonstrates the effects of green facades and roofs

The findings will lay a scientifically sound foundation for further projects aimed at making cities sustainable, climate-resilient and liveable. The partners in this project, funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), are AEE INTEC – Institute for Sustainable Technologies, Technisches Büro Siegfried Stark, the landscape architecture and urban planning firm “studio boden”, and Ökoteam Graz.

Desert sand, microplastics, cancer cells: David Clases awarded ERC grant for analytical method

Nanoparticles trapped in polar ice can reveal a great deal about the climate 100,000 years ago. Chemist David Clases is developing unique methods to analyse them in detail. He will now adapt these methods for use with larger particles in order to glean even more information about Earth’s history. The method can be used for a wide range of other purposes – for example, in medical diagnostics or the investigation of environmental pollution. Clases has been awarded a Proof-of-Concept Grant by the European Research Council (ERC) for this work.
