Die Welt als Hörsaal

Uni Graz setzt auf offene Kurse im Netz und auf Moodle

Ausgewählte Vorlesungen für die breite Öffentlichkeit zugänglich – rund um die Uhr und ortsunabhängig: Bereits Ende 2013 startete die Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz gemeinsam mit der TU Graz eine österreichweit einzigartige „MOOCs“-Initiative. MOOCs, das steht für Massive Open Online Courses, boomen vor allem an Eliteuniversitäten wie Harvard oder Stanford. Vorlesungen mit mehreren zehntausend TeilnehmerInnen werden über das Internet angeboten; die Lernerfolge schrittweise mit einem Zertifikat bestätigt. Wissbegierige können so kostenlos Online-Kurse verschiedener Universitäten verfolgen.

Auf der steirischen Plattform „iMooX“, die bereits mehr als 2000 registrierte NutzerInnen verzeichnet, laufen seit März drei Kurse, die von der Uni Graz und der TU angeboten werden. Die Vorteile sind: Die Online-Vorlesungen können auch außerhalb der Kurszeiten konsumiert werden und die Lerninhalte stehen alle unter einer Creative Commons Linzenz und garantieren somit eine rechtlich einwandfreie Wiedergabe und Weitergabe der Medien. Betreut wird das Projekt an der Uni Graz von Dr. Michael Kopp von der Akademie für Neue Medien und Wissenstransfer. Dr. Martin Ebner betreut „iMoox“ an der TU Graz. In den nächsten Monaten soll die Plattform um viele weitere Vorlesungen ausgebaut werden. Ab Herbst sind Kurse zu „Nutzen und Gefahren von Social Medie“, „Physik in der Unterstufe“, „Offene Bildungsressourcen“, „Informatik in der Schule“ und zu „Englischen Fachbegriffen in der Chemie“ geplant. Online verwirklicht werden können beinahe alle Lehrveranstaltungen; Kopp und Ebner sind ständig auf der Suche nach WissenschafterInnen, die ihr Wissen über MOOCs verbreiten wollen.


Moodle
Erfolgreich an der Uni Graz etabliert hat sich die Lehrplattform moodle: Lehrende können über dieses Werkzeug mit den Studierenden ihrer Lehrveranstaltung kommunizieren, Aufgaben verteilen und Dokumente anbieten und austauchen. Zusätzlich ermöglicht die interaktive Plattform auch das Einrichten von Wikis, Foren und Prüfungen. Die Uni-IT berät bei beim Aufbau einer Einheit in moodle.

Around the world in eight stops: the Long Night of Research at the University of Graz

On 24 April from 5 pm, you can take a short trip around the globe at the University of Graz, discovering pecularities of foreign countries or new local features in the entrance hall of the University Library. The itinerary takes you through introduced animal species, political attitudes and the omnipotence of algorithms. There will also be a programme in the historic reading hall, as well as at the UniGraz@Museum and the University Archive.
