Books, buildings, biodiversity: what's happening at Campus 2026

Rendering of the library

The campus will be expanded as a biodiverse habitat in 2026: for example with new quarters for bats. The university site is also becoming more sustainable: a green façade is being added to the Theology Centre. And the campus will become even more attractive with buildings and modernisations.

At the Graz Centre of Physics, the ceiling between the first basement floor and the ground floor is already closed. The construction of the reinforced concrete walls on the ground floor has already begun. The aim is to complete the majority of the building shell in the next twelve months. ⇒ Find out more about the schedule

The House of Educational Sciences (Universitätsplatz 4) celebrated the topping-out ceremony at the end of 2025. The redesign and modernisation of the total of 10,000 square metres is going according to plan so that the institutes and centres of the Faculty of Education, which are currently spread across several locations, and the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Environmental, Regional and Educational Sciences can move in in summer 2027.

However, the opening is already planned for the coming weeks. Following the renovation of the history library at Heinrichstraße 26, the modernised premises will cover around 1,000 square metres and two floors from March 2026. The ceiling between the third and fourth floors has been removed and a staircase installed.
