Senat erstellte Vorschlag für die Wahl des Rektors der Universität Graz

Wer wird Rektorin Christa Neuper ab 1. Oktober 2019 an der Spitze der Universität Graz nachfolgen? Beim Hearing am 23. Jänner 2019 haben zwei Bewerber ihre Konzepte für das Amt des Rektors präsentiert. In seiner anschließenden Sitzung beschloss der Senat ao. Univ.-Prof. Mag. Dr. Martin Polaschek als einzigen Kandidaten vorzuschlagen.

Diesen Vorschlag hat der Senat dem Universitätsrat übermittelt, der – voraussichtlich in seiner Sitzung am 8. Februar – den künftigen Rektor wählen wird. Die Funktionsperiode beginnt am 1. Oktober 2019 und dauert vier Jahre.

Zur Person:
Martin Polaschek wurde 1965 in Bruck/Mur geboren. Nach dem Studium der Rechtswissenschaften habilitierte er sich im Jahr 2000 für Österreichische und Europäische Rechtsentwicklungen, Rechtliche Zeitgeschichte und Föderalismusforschung und wurde zum außerordentlichen Universitätsprofessor ernannt. Seit 2003 ist er Vizerektor für Studium und Lehre sowie Studiendirektor der Universität Graz. Martin Polaschek ist neben diesen Funktionen auch in der Forschung aktiv. Sein wissenschaftlicher Fokus liegt in den Bereichen der Nachkriegsjustiz, dem Universitätsrecht und der Kommunalforschung. Darüber hinaus ist er Sprecher der österreichischen VizerektorInnen für Lehre.

Chemical Christmas show at the University of Graz: An explosive evening at the Schauspielh

At the beginning of December, the University of Graz transformed the theater into a laboratory: as part of “Chemical Life,” teacher training students staged a chemical Christmas show for Styrian school classes—complete with ethanol rockets, nitrogen snow, and glowing effects. Lectures at the University of Klagenfurt in the morning, seminars at the University of Graz in the afternoon: Austria's longest tunnel and a journey time of around 45 minutes make it easy. The Koralm railway increases the speed of networking between the two university locations. The collaboration builds on existing cooperation - for example in the areas of teacher training, Slavic studies and as employers, the universities are well coordinated.
