Medienlehrgang-Studierende zeigen Kurzfilm-Porträt über Menschenrechtspreisträgerin Ruth Seipel bei Festival Fragments

Die Grazerin Ruth Seipel hat den Verein Mentorus ins Leben gerufen, der Asylsuchende im Alltag und bei der Integration unterstützt, wofür sie vergangenen Dezember auch mit dem Menschenrechtspreis der Stadt ausgezeichnet wurde. Alexander Baldele und Adrian Klinkan, Studierende des Medienlehrgangs der Uni Graz, haben die Aktivistin bei ihrer Vereinstätigkeit begleitet und ihr ein filmisches Porträt gewidmet. Diese Abschlussarbeit für den Lehrgang mit dem Titel „Angekommen“ wird am Wochenende beim Fragments Filmfestival gezeigt.
Ein Projekt, das Seipel unterstützt, ist der „FC Gute Freunde“. Dort trainiert sie wöchentlich mit afghanischen Jugendlichen, solange diese sich aktiv um ihre Ausbildung kümmern. „Ihre ‚Jungs‘ leben ohne die leiblichen Eltern in Österreich und sind als Minderjährige hierher geflohen“, erzählen die Filmproduzenten. „Du kannst nur mitspielen, wenn du etwas machst: entweder gehst du in einen Kurs, in eine Schule oder bist auf Lehrstellensuche. Tust du nichts, hast du bei uns nichts verloren“, stellt die Mentorin im Porträt klar. Sie selbst ist für die unbegleiteten Flüchtlinge Anlaufstelle für Sorgen und Probleme. Vor allem der Schulbesuch ist wegen der sprachlichen Hürden eine schwer bewältigbare Herausforderung. Der Verein Mentorus unterstützt daher mit Nachhilfestunden.
