Was die Präsidentschaftswahl für Europa bedeutet

Barack Obama oder Mitt Romney - vor dieser Wahl steht Amerika am 6. November 2012 bei der 57. Wahl des Präsidenten der Vereinigten Staaten. Was bedeutet die Wahl - und vor allem deren Ausgang - für Europa? Welche Szenarien sind zu erwarten, sollten die Demokraten die Wahl für sich entscheiden, welche im Fall eines Sieges der Republikaner?

 

Ein Kamingespräch an der Rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultät stellt diese Fragen und sucht nach Antworten. Zu Gast sind der US-Botschafter in Wien, William C. Eacho III, und Politikwissenschafter Dr. Thomas Hofer, MA., die unter der Moderation von Amerikanistin Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Roberta Maierhofer die aktuelle Wahl gemeinsam analysieren werden.

 

Organisiert hat die Veranstaltung mit dem Titel "America goes to the Polls. The 2012 Elections and What They Mean for Europe" Dr. Matthias Kettemann, LL.M. (Harvard) vom Institut für Völkerrecht und internationale Beziehungen.

Im Oktober ko-organisiert Matthias Kettemann außerdem zwei Workshops: Gemeinsam mit Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Benedek und MMag. Stefan Salomon "The Common Interest in International Law" vom 11. bis 12. Oktober 2012 und vom 20. bis 21. Oktober den 6. Workshop des Arbeitskreises junger VölkerrechtswissenschafterInnen zum Thema "Grenzen, Grenzerfahrungen und Grenzüberschreitungen im Völkerrecht".
