Alles unter einem Dach

„Erasmus+“ nennt sich das neue Programm der EU für Bildung, Jugend und Sport 2014–2020

Erasmus, Leonardo, Comenius: Diese klingenden Namen stehen nicht nur für historische Persönlichkeiten, sondern auch für Mobilitätsprogramme innerhalb der Europäischen Union. Mit dem aktuellen Wintersemester 2014/2015 werden sämtliche einzelne Programmschienen unter dem Dach „Erasmus+“ zusammengefasst.

Neben der Mobilität sind Kooperationsprojekte sowie die Unterstützung politischer Reformen weitere Schlüsselaktivitäten des neuen „Topfs“. Um dessen Angebote zu nutzen, mussten die europäischen Universitäten eine „Charter for Higher Education“ zur Qualitätssicherung beantragen, erklärt Diana Afrashteh vom Büro für Internationale Beziehungen: „Die Verleihung der Charter bedeutet, dass die Uni Graz für die nächsten sieben Jahre für alle Aktionen des neuen Programmes teilnahmeberechtigt ist.“

Die Vorteile von „Erasmus+“ sind EU-weit vereinheitlichte Antragsverfahren, Finanzabwicklungen und Deadlines über alle Aktionsschienen. Außerdem können Studierende nun mehrmals ins Ausland gehen, jeweils im Bachelor-, Master- und PhD-Level. JungabsolventInnen können jetzt kürzere Praktika absolvieren und diese schon während des Studiums beantragen. Zudem sind für Mitarbeiter­Innen ab sofort auch kürzere Fortbildungs- und Lehraufenthalte an Partner-universitäten möglich.

Die Reform bringt auch Nachteile, so Afrashteh: „Es wird insgesamt weniger Stipendien für Mobilität mit Drittstaaten geben. Und die aus Brüsseler Sicht vereinfachte Abwicklung bedeutet für uns de facto einen Mehraufwand, da wir trotzdem auf nationale Vorschriften Rücksicht nehmen müssen.“

The Austrian Science Fund FWF has selected the Doctoral Programme in Theoretical Particle Physics at the University of Graz for funding from the Doc.funds. Six young scientists will be funded for 3.5 years. They will gain fundamentally new insights into the origins of the world.

From trans women and knee prostheses: sports science prizes awarded

Walking better with a prosthesis, successfully getting rid of excess weight, training more effectively, more fairness for trans people in sport: these were the topics addressed by the students at the University of Graz who were awarded the sports science prizes for their Master's theses on 3 December 2025.
