17. Österreichischer Klimatag in Graz

Vernetzung und Austausch zu neuesten Forschungen rund um den Klimawandel sind Ziel der Veranstaltung von 6. bis 8. April 2016

Aktuelle Forschungen zum Klimawandel, zu dessen Auswirkungen und Vermeidung sowie zu Anpassungsstrategien stehen im Mittelpunkt des 17. Österreichischen Klimatags, der von 6. bis 8. April 2016 erstmals in Graz stattfindet. Die vom Climate Change Center Austria CCCA gemeinsam mit Partnerinstitutionen aus der Wissenschaft – unter anderem der Uni Graz – und dem Bundesumweltamt veranstaltete Konferenz soll die Vernetzung zwischen ForscherInnen aus naturwissenschaftlichen, sozioökonomischen und anderen Fachbereichen fördern, wie auch den Austausch mit Verantwortlichen aus der Praxis und der interessierten Öffentlichkeit.

WissenschafterInnen aus dem Forschungsschwerpunkt "Unwelt und Globaler Wandel" der Uni Graz, welche auch am CCCA beteiligt ist, liefern zahlreiche Beiträge zum Programm.

Kunst und Klima
Anlässlich des Österreichischen Klimatages haben die Karl-Franzens-Universität und die Kunstuniversität Graz gemeinsam den Wettbewerb "KlimARS" ausgeschrieben. Aufgabe war, durch den Klimawandel bedingte globale Veränderungen künstlerisch zu thematisieren. Am 7. April 2016 werden im Rahmen einer Abendveranstaltung die zwanzig besten Arbeiten im MUMUTH – Haus für Musik und Musiktheater präsentiert und die drei Siegerprojekte prämiert. Unterstützt haben den Wettbewerb das Land Steiermark, die Energie Steiermark, die Energie Graz und die Kleine Zeitung.

A research team from the University of Graz and the High Altitude Observatory in Boulder (USA) has succeeded in doing just that. The astrophysicists have developed an AI-supported method that makes even the smallest structures on the Sun visible. The scientists are convinced that this will bring about a lasting change in solar observation and that the new method can be used for the planned European Solar Telescope.

Long Night of Research: How many languages are there in the world?

From a linguistic perspective, there are worlds of difference between Bern, Berlin and Vienna. A dialect impersonator will demonstrate live just how varied German can sound. How many languages are there in the world? What are their distinctive features? Which of these are spoken in Austria? These and other questions will be answered during the Long Night of Research at the University of Graz: on Friday, 24 April 2025, from 5 pm to 11 pm, in the University Library. Visitors can immerse themselves in the diversity of languages without travelling far by taking part in a quiz at the station.
