Wissensdurst-Vorlesung von Leopold Neuhold über das Ritual Fußball

Soziales Eigentor oder gesellschaftlicher Volltreffer? Ein spannendes Match lieferte am 11. Juni 2014, am Vorabend der Fußball-WM, Theologe Univ.-Prof. Dr. Leopold Neuhold im Rahmen der Uni-Reihe „Wissensdurst – die Wissenschaftsviertelstunde“ im Lokal Brot & Spiele.
Neuhold, anerkannter Ethiker und passionierter Fußballfan, brachte in seiner Kurz-Vorlesung den gesellschaftlichen Einfluss des heute beginnenden Großereignisses in Brasilien ins Spiel. Anhand von vier Thesen analysierte er das Phänomen Fußball. So bezeichnete Neuhold Fußball als irrelevanten Krieg, in dem Aggressivität in den Sport gelenkt wird. Problematisch werde es allerdings dann, wenn es zu gewaltsamen Ausschreitungen kommt. Außerdem, so der Wissenschafter, ist Fußball ein Ritual, das jedoch nicht zu Religion werden darf – obwohl es zahlreiche religiöse Bezüge gibt: Wenn zum Beispiel Fans ins Station pilgern, Kicker auf dem heiligen Rasen spielen.

„Wissensdurst – die Wissenschaftsviertelstunde im Pub“ wird von den Doktoratsstudierenden Christian Ferch und Lukas Grumet präsentiert und ist Teil der 7. fakultät, des Zentrums für Gesellschaft, Wissen und Kommunikation der Uni Graz.
