Studierende wählen von 18. bis 20. Mai ihre VertreterInnen in der HochschülerInnenschaft

Am Campus sind sie schon seit Wochen sichtbar, die Wahlplakate der einzelnen KandidatInnen für die ÖH Wahl. Von 18. bis 20. Mai werden Studierende wieder aufgerufen, ihre VertreterInnen in der Österreichischen HochschülerInnenschaft zu bestimmen. An der Universität Graz findet die Wahl in gewohnter Weise in Zelten vor dem Hauptgebäude sowie im RESOWI-Zentrum und am WALL in der Merangasse 70 statt. „Zusätzlich zum großen Zelt sehen wir heuer auch zwei kleine Pagoden auf der Grünfläche vor dem Universitätsplatz 3 vor. Wir haben aufgrund der pandemischen Situation abgespeckt und führen diesmal nur insgesamt sechs der üblichen zehn Wahllokale“, verrät die Vorsitzende der Wahlkommission Anna Hutter.

Wer kann gewählt werden?
Sechs Fraktionen unterschiedlicher politischer Coleurs und unabhängiger Listen haben ihre Kandidatur bekanntgegeben: Verband Sozialistischer Student_innen in Österreich (VSStÖ), Aktionsgemeinschaft Graz (AG), Grüne & Alternative Studen_innen (GRAS), Unabhängige Fachschaftslisten Uni Graz (FLUG-FSL), JUNOS - Junge liberale Studierende (JUNOS Studierende) sowie der Kommunistische StudentInnenverband (KSV-KJÖ).

Wer darf wählen?
Zum Urnengang berechtigt sind alle Studierende der Uni Graz, die am Stichtag 30. März 2021 ihren Studienbeitrag oder den ÖH-Beitrag eingezahlt haben. Gewählt wird in Präsenz, eine Briefwahl ist möglich, „aber nur für die Wahl der Hochschulvertretung und Bundesvertretung. WählerInnen, die sich für die Briefwahl entscheiden, können keine Stimmen für die StudienvertreterInnen abgeben“.

Wahlkarten können online unter https://wahl.oehunigraz.at/briefwahl/ beantragt werden und müssen pünktlich vor der Abgabefrist per Postweg bei der Wahlkommission eintreffen.

On 24 April from 5 pm, you can take a short trip around the globe at the University of Graz, discovering pecularities of foreign countries or new local features in the entrance hall of the University Library. The itinerary takes you through introduced animal species, political attitudes and the omnipotence of algorithms. There will also be a programme in the historic reading hall, as well as at the UniGraz@Museum and the University Archive.

Building biological bridges: Chemist discovers an ecological tool for the pharmaceutical industry

Building a relationship on a solid foundation is also important in chemistry. To produce medicines, disinfectants or plant protection products, stable bonds between carbon atoms must be formed. Conventional chemical methods rely on environmentally harmful reagents and solvents to carry out the desired reaction. This process also produces unusable by-products. Chemist Lilla Gal has discovered an enzyme that enables the same process to take place efficiently and sustainably. The results of her research were recently published in the prestigious journal Angewandte Chemie.
