Der traditionelle Multikulti-Ball am Samstag braucht gute Vorbereitung. Deshalb schließt die UB Graz am Donnerstag bereits um 12 Uhr ihre Pforten.

Vorbereitungen für den Multikulti-Ball ab Donnerstag

Alle Jahre wieder wird die Uni Graz für eine ganze Nacht zum Ballsaal: Der Multikulti-Ball, der am kommenden Samstag, den 14. Juni, zum 17. Mal über die Bühne geht, erfordert auch einige größere Umbauarbeiten im Hauptgebäude und in den Räumlichkeiten der Universitätsbibliothek. "Ab Donnerstagmittag ist das Team der Gebäude und Technik, vor allem die HausarbeiterInnen und Elektriker, mit dem Aufbau beschäftigt", weiß Gabriele Pirsch vom Veranstaltungsservice der Uni Graz. Zudem arbeiten auch externe HandwerkerInnen am Aufbau von Bühnen sowie an der Licht- und Tontechnik, damit der Multikulti-Ball wieder zum einem Klangfestival der besonderen Art wird. Dazu ist die Aula ab Donnerstagmittag nicht mehr zugänglich.

Hauptbibliothek ab Donnerstagmittag geschlossen
Ein Ballsaal wird heuer wieder der Hauptlesesaal der UB Graz werden. Um ihn für die "magische Nacht" vorzubereiten, schließt die Hauptbibliothek am Donnerstag, 12. Juni, um 12 Uhr ihre Pforten. Freitag und Samstag bleibt sie ebenfalls geschlossen. Gleichzeitig werden Wartungsarbeiten im Bibliothekssystem uni≡kat durchgeführt. Eine Online-Bestellung von Beständen der Hauptbibliothek ist daher in der Zeit von Donnerstag 08:00 Uhr bis Freitag 13:00 Uhr nicht möglich.

Around the world in eight stops: the Long Night of Research at the University of Graz

On 24 April from 5 pm, you can take a short trip around the globe at the University of Graz, discovering pecularities of foreign countries or new local features in the entrance hall of the University Library. The itinerary takes you through introduced animal species, political attitudes and the omnipotence of algorithms. There will also be a programme in the historic reading hall, as well as at the UniGraz@Museum and the University Archive.
