US-Botschafts-Gesandter Lee Anthony Brudvig war zu Gast im Politik Café der Uni Graz

Die Vision einer transatlantischen Solidarität zwsichen USA und Europa skizzierte Lee Anthony Brudvig, Gesandter der U.S.-Botschaft in Wien, am 15. Oktober 2014 im Rahmen der Reihe „Politik Café“ im bis auf den letzten Platz gefüllten Opern Café in der Innenstadt. „Wir müssen noch mehr zusammen tun“, appellierte der Diplomat im Gespräch mit Gastgeber und Rechtswissenschafter Markus Steppan. Wirtschaftliche Prosperität bringe zugleich politische Stabilität, so Brudvig. In diesem Zusammenhang befürwortete der US-Amerikaner auch das viel diskutierte Transatlantische Freihandelsabkommen (TTIP), das von populistischen Inhalten geprägt sei: „Es wird wirtschaftliches Wachstum in Europa schaffen. Wenn wir nicht reagieren, wird die Position von Jahr zu Jahr schwächer.“

Die nächste Ausgabe des „Politik Café“ am 12. November lässt eine spannende Debatte erwarten. Markus Steppan diskutiert mit Fritz Neugebauer, Vorsitzender der Gewerkschaft Öffentlicher Dienst.
